Does the route involve driving on any dirt tracks, or are the roads all likely to be tarmac'd ?

The exact route each team takes will be up to the team. Unless your feeling adventurous or get completely and utterly lost (as we did one year and ended up in a field twice ) there should be no dirt tracks involved.
