2006 Event.

Well, the Barcelona bangers 2006 rally turned out to be a very successful and social gathering, everyone involved contributed to make the event a very worthwhile experience, the drive down to Nantes was pleasurable with lots of photographic opportunities on the way with many old villages spread along the route, most of the teams took the 'Le Mans' route which must have been a sight for the locals seeing £200 bangers drive through intead of Ferraris and Porsches! then the sheer number of Chateaus and vineyards as you drive near Bordeaux, driving over the Andorra mountains was a pleasure, but actually seeing the awsome outline of the mountainous 'Montseratt' was truly very special, over the 3 days the weather was excellent with many drivers getting their right arm sunburnt as they held it out of the drivers window (air conditioning is a luxury in a 200 quid banger), although i think the team with the Capri were actually red from the heat their engine was kicking out, i also remember a couple of other teams driving in 80' heat with the car heating on full to try and dissperse some engine heat, ahhh the fun of driving to Barcelona in a banger, well, i say driving to Barcelona, my heart goes out to the team that broke down within 40 miles of the start of the 1000 mile journey, they had to scrap their car and hitch hike back to England, and the thunderbird team who spent 6 months preparing the car only to break down on the first day! they still raised a very worthwhile amount of money for charity though! they will be with us in 2007 but in a more relaible car next time!! every team that took part in Barcelona bangers contributed immensly with every car being prepared for the occasion and every person putting in a little effort to have a big fun time, thanks you to everyone who made 2006 a memroable event.

2007 Event.

The preperations for the 2007 rally have already begun, with many teams from the 2006 rally joining us again for the 2007 event, also many of the veterans from 2006 have passed their stories on about the success of Barcelona bangers which has seen a number of enquiries from new people wanting to come with us to Barcelona in 2007, even though its a car rally we encourage teams from couples and female teams, all the couples and females that came with us on the 2006 event have expressed interest in joining us in 2007, remember there is no racing involved in any way on the event, its just a social gathering driving to Barcelona for a fun weekend,

As you can see from the 'route' page of this website, we have changed the route for 2007, the first night will remain the same as 2006 with the overnight stay in Natntes, on the second day we will now be driving through Bordeaux, down the coast and through Biarritz and on to San Sebastien for our second nights stay, for the third day we will drive through Pamplona and Zaragoza along the lower Pyrenees (Guarna mountains) and accross into Barcelona, there will also be challenges each day with prize money and trophy to win, there will also be prize money and trophies for the top 3 teams, the prize money and trophies are won on points, not by racing or being the first to finish? remember this is a rally, not a race?
